Key Facts

The key aims of Austromouse are

  • to provide access to a key resource for a comprehensive annotation of gene function: mouse knock-out/in mutants generated from genetically modified ES cells;
  • to generate mouse mutants using various state-of the art transgenic approaches such as retroviral transgenesis, microRNA sponges (RNAi pathway), or BAC transgenics;
  • to support research and technology development to maintain international leadership; and
  • to provide education and training to the Austrian research community.

For GEN-AU III we propose to maintain and expand our already very successful network but include new research groups and streamline our approaches in order to move forward the vision to provide Austria with a world-class mouse genomics network.
